This semester has been so rewarding, I am so grateful for every opportunity that has opened up to me throughout my school year and it has given me so much clarity because it made me realize I am exactly where I am meant to be in my life-everything before I decided to join the swim team seemed so difficult such as work opportunities, lack of motivation, and uncertainty of my future but now I have a clear vision and plan of where my life is headed and everything I have decided for myself up until now has worked in my favor and been done so smoothly and easily. I believe that sometimes when we follow a path that isn't truly for us, life becomes extremely challenging but when we take steps to push past our comfort zone and follow what our mind and heart has been yearning for-(no matter how long it takes or how "late" we decide to begin on the journey)-the path we are meant to be on will be challenging but not impossible and when you are doing what you are meant to be doing so many opportunities open up for you at the right time.
I am so proud of everything I have accomplished this far and I never considered myself as a coach or even thought I would be good enough to pursue a career path towards becoming a coach so when I decided to research different career opportunities that Mt. SAC offered which aligned with the degree I had already completed, everything just kind of began to fall into place for me and opportunities started to find me which was even more encouraging and reassuring for me when it came to understanding that I am where I am meant to be and doing what I am meant to be doing. So to the people that helped me out along the way and gave me opportunities that will help my career as a coach, thank you so much!
My primary career goal is to work towards obtaining my license as a Rad Tech which is essential for me to live the lifestyle I see for myself but also become independent; and this secondary career goal which involves becoming a coach for a swim club or school team allows me to continue to stay involved in one of the things that makes me the happiest in life which is swimming and just being in the water, I know in another life i must have been a mermaid or something!
This course has also helped me so much in gaining essential and valuable knowledge that I can take with me on my journey of becoming a coach, thank you to Brea Aquatics who has allowed me to gain first hand experience of what it takes to become a coach especially when it comes to athletes and the people who influence them. I have learned so much from all my colleagues at Brea Aquatics(Coach Jodi and Coach Frank) and I appreciate everyone who was always willing to teach me something new or just share some helpful advice. Thank you to my Bronze groups, you all have my heart-I have enjoyed interning here and learning about each and every one of you, I am so happy to see how much you all have grown from my first day until now and I cannot wait to see where your swim careers take you! Even though I will not continue with Brea Aquatics as a permanent coach, I will still be present whenever a sub is needed. You all will live in my heart forever and I am so grateful that you all get to be my first athletes, also shout out to the parents of my Bronze groups that were so positive and encouraging of me; I will never forget your kindness and reassurance you showed me. I look forward to where this part of my life takes me but for now, thank you.
